Welcome to a Contemporary Transformation in the Boulders Community – North Near Carefree, AZ
A Contemporary & Modern Blue Kitchen Transformation
The Boulders Community near Carefree, AZ, presents an exciting opportunity for modern kitchen transformation. This project, our second Boulders Community kitchen design project, aims to blend contemporary aesthetics with functional design, creating a beautiful yet practical cooking space. With homeowners’ taste for a mix of colors and elements, this case study shows how we navigated the challenges posed by the compact and oddly shaped kitchen area to achieve a stunning transitional kitchen design.
Design Vision
Our vision for this project was to infuse the kitchen with a touch of modern elegance while maintaining its practicality. We aimed to craft a space that felt inviting and efficient, utilizing Shaker cabinets in contrasting hues—white for the upper cabinets and blue for the lowers and the island. The goal was to create a visually captivating space that included all the homeowner’s specified elements without compromising function.
Key Features
- Cabinetry: The upper cabinets are a pristine white, lending an airy feel to the space, while the lower blue cabinetry, including the kitchen island, introduces a vibrant and eccentric flair.
- Backsplash and Countertops: The white 3×6 ceramic subway tiles provide a clean and timeless backdrop for the kitchen, perfectly complementing the durable quartz countertops that offer both style and function.
- Appliances:
- Hood: We selected a Convertible Island Range Hood, which blends seamlessly with the overall aesthetic.
- Refrigerator: A massive double-door, stainless steel fridge is inset into the wall, contributing to a streamlined look.
- Stove: Flush with the countertop, the stove offers a seamless cooking area.
- Microwave: Conveniently inset into the kitchen island, maximizing counter space and accessibility.
- Oven: A double oven installed into the wall, flush with the upper cabinets, ensuring plenty of cooking capacity without crowding the room.
- Flooring: Large white ceramic tiles were chosen to enhance the space’s light and openness, creating a cohesive look that ties the entire kitchen together.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the primary challenges faced during this project was accommodating all the desired elements within the limited and uniquely shaped kitchen space. Our solution revolved around smart design choices and space-saving techniques. The use of inset appliances, like the microwave and double oven, provided more workable surface area and storage. The mix of white and blue cabinetry helped in delineating spaces without overpowering the room, while the thoughtful placement of the large white ceramic floor tiles visually expanded the area.
Conclusion
The Boulders 1 Project stands as a testament to creative problem-solving and innovative design. By carefully balancing aesthetics and functionality, we crafted a modern, transitional kitchen brimming with character and efficiency. The final result not only met the homeowner’s vision but also showcases our commitment to excellence in interior design. Enjoy the transformation journey through the featured before and after photos.
