In Scottsdale, AZ we had the opportunity to transform an ordinary kitchen into an extraordinary space that elegantly blends modern design elements with the comfort of a traditional setting. Our design aimed at creating visual interest while maximizing functionality, resulting in what we proudly refer to as a ‘modern transitional’ kitchen design.

The Scottsdale Modern Transitional Kitchen project involved a complete remodel of an existing kitchen and an adjoining laundry room. The design challenge lay in incorporating a kitchen island into a space-constrained setting without compromising on functionality or aesthetics.

Before Remodeling

Before the remodel, the kitchen was a closed-off space with limited countertop area and inadequate storage. The homeowners wanted to work-in a kitchen island but weren’t quite sure how it would fit into their current kitchen space. They also wanted a modern, functional kitchen that offered more counter space and integrated seamlessly with the adjoining laundry room.

Our design team envisioned an L-Layout kitchen that would maximize counter space while enhancing the kitchen’s visual appeal. We decided to use full overlay, white, shaker cabinets with elongated black handles for a clean, modern look. The island, painted in a contrasting gray, became a focal point in the kitchen. To add warmth to the space, we used light engineered hardwood flooring and a glass pattern sheet for the backsplash.

The construction process involved the installation of tall, elegant cabinets and long, horizontal drawers under the countertops. Modern appliances such as an under-counter beverage fridge and a built-in microwave drawer were inset into the cabinetry, creating a neat, unified look. We also installed open glass frame upper cabinets above the countertop in the mini bar area, providing an attractive display space. The backsplash was adorned with large, hexagonal mosaic tiles that added texture and depth to the space.

Result

The resulting kitchen is a perfect blend of modern and traditional elements. The white cabinets, gray island, and light wood flooring create a harmonious color palette, while the efficient layout provides ample counter and storage space. The island, initially a concern due to the space constraints, became a practical and aesthetically pleasing feature in the kitchen. In addition, the remodeling extended into the laundry room, with the same cabinetry installed to ensure visual continuity.

The Scottsdale Modern Transitional Kitchen project highlights our ability to innovate and adapt designs according to unique space constraints. It was a testament to our commitment to creating functional, beautiful spaces that reflect the homeowner’s style and needs.
